28 August 2026 New feature Fixes v1.2.14

Old Finch speaks your language

The old birder has been practicing. Every one of his 436 bird descriptions is now retold in all 13 of Birdey's languages: each paragraph was retold in that language's own words, so it still sounds like an old friend pointing a bird out to you instead of a word-for-word translation. That is the heart of 1.2.14, and he brought a whole classroom with him.

Old Finch, in your words

  • All 436 bird descriptions retold in Danish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish and Chinese, alongside the English originals.
  • A new read-aloud button on his panel reads the description out loud, with the right voice for your language.

Learn the field marks

  • Old Finch has a new Field marks tab in the Birdex: exactly what to look for to know the species in the field, in your own language.
  • Comparing two birds? The field marks come along, so you can see what actually separates the pair.

Two names on every bird

  • Learning bird names in more than one language? Pick a second language in settings and the birds show both names, right above the Latin.

Spot a bad translation? Fix it

  • A small translate icon now sits on the bird cards and on every big explainer in the app. See a translation that reads wrong, tap it, correct it, send it in.
  • Approved fixes ship to every player in that language.

Inviting friends pays better

  • The 10-friend cap is gone: every invited friend who keeps a 3-day streak pays 30 eggs, forever.
  • The milestone ladder now climbs all the way to 50 friends, with jackpots at 20, 30 and 50 worth 600, 1,000 and 3,000 eggs.
  • When a friend you invited goes Birdey+, you get 100 eggs as thanks.
  • Sharing a World First now names the places to post, and the caption carries your invite code, so a world record can also recruit a friend.

Small but important

  • An ALL button in the egg sheet spends every feather on eggs in one tap.
  • The country list is sorted by the names you actually read: in French, Espagne now stands with the E's instead of where Spain would.
  • The Latin name on the bird card is centered again.
  • Fresh installs can no longer freeze out later card corrections.
21 August 2026 New feature Fixes v1.2.13

Your name on the card

Spot a species before anyone else in the world and your name goes on its card the moment you claim it. That is the headline of 1.2.13, but the update also brings a daily star bonus on seed packs, a new audio engine, and a proper cleanup of the storage the app was wasting.

World First is now automatic

  • No more sharing first: the first birder to claim a new species gets the crown instantly.
  • Every day the game celebrates the newest World Firsts in a popup: the birds, the winners' names, and your own name front and center if you are on the list.
  • Won a World First? You can share it and earn 300 eggs once the share is approved.

A star on every seed pack

  • The first contribution of each kind per day pays an egg bonus on the spot: a gold star on the pack shows what is waiting, and turns grey once collected.
  • Feather donors are included: the first donated seed of the day pays eggs too, so every helper gets a thank-you, not just the top contributor.

A new audio engine

  • Music and bird songs moved to a new engine, fixing the stutters some Android phones felt when sounds loaded.
  • The app also stops hoarding storage: a bug copied the soundtrack to your phone on every launch, and some devices get as much as a gigabyte back.

Every language, properly

  • The hatch ceremony now speaks all of Birdey's languages instead of defaulting to English.
  • French and Portuguese no longer announce "1 new bird" when a batch had none.
  • Country search in the Birdex understands country names in your own language.
  • The report dialog and the credits screen are translated everywhere.

Small but important

  • Rounds, hatches and purchases now always finish their bookkeeping, even if you leave the screen early.
  • You can report an offensive player name from a profile, and the name screen itself now says no to names that break the rules.
  • Members can follow their egg ladder on the membership card, with a countdown to the next reward.
  • Faster startup and a smaller app.
19 August 2026 New feature Fixes v1.2.11

Your birds, in your own language

If you play in Italian, Chinese or Portuguese, a lot of birds have been sitting there with an English name. Almost all of them have their real name now. Members also start earning eggs along the way, and the type-the-name rounds finally give you the same field notes as the rest of the game.

Bird names in your own language

  • Bird names come from eBird, which only translates the species that live in that language's own part of the world. Everything else fell back to English, so an Italian player met a Bald Eagle instead of an Aquila di mare testabianca, and a Chinese player saw English on two cards out of three. The missing names are now filled in from the IOC World Bird List: Italian went from 43% English names down to under 1%, Chinese from 67% to none, Portuguese from 23% to under 1%. Thank you to Cristian Andreoli, who wrote in and asked why the Bald Eagle was not called Aquila.

Eggs for members

  • Birdey+ now pays eggs as you go: 100 when your free trial starts, 300 on your first payment, and 1,000 on your first renewal. A yearly plan pays the whole ladder at once, 1,500 eggs the moment it starts.
  • Every payout lands in your notifications with a note about what it was for, so nothing arrives without an explanation.

Field notes when you type the name

  • Rounds where you type the bird's name yourself now show the big range map and the speaker with the bird's song, exactly like the multiple choice rounds do. They used to leave you with the leaf orb and nothing else.

The small stuff

  • A new bird arriving from the feeder is announced with its name in your own language. Some players got English in the "added to the game" parade no matter what they played in. Spotted by the developer's sister.
  • Rows in the filter menus line up along the right edge again. The species name and the tick circle used to sit a random distance from the edge on every row, worst in Italian. Reported by Lorthirk in Discord.
  • The Filters button in the Birdex keeps its full size once your feather balance passes 1,000. The extra digit used to squeeze the label down to tiny text.

Happy spotting.

18 August 2026 New feature Fixes v1.2.10

The birds found their voices

72 species now sing with real field recordings, on their card in the Birdex and in practice rounds. Hatching got a show of its own, friends trade daily feathers, the Birdex learned to compare birds side by side, and your own music keeps playing on Android.

Birds you can hear

  • A Birdey speaker sits on the card's detail screen and plays the species' real song. 72 species have their voice so far, and more are on the way.
  • In the multiple choice part of a practice round, the range map and the speaker both stay on screen after the bird is hidden. So you can still see where in the world it lives, and hear how it sounds.
  • Every recording is credited: a new bird song section on the Credits screen lists every single recordist and licence, one line per species.

Hatching in one go

  • x10 and x100 hatches are one ceremony now. The whole clutch sits in the nest, the ordinary eggs pop in an accelerating cascade onto a board that fills live, and a rare bird stops the entire show, rises out of the pile and hatches with the full reveal.
  • Hatch everything you have: the row of hatch choices now ends at your own total, so with 47 eggs it says x47. The lucky egg got a x30, so the whole boost hatches in one sitting.
  • Duplicates convert to feathers straight from the hatch receipt. One button with the numbers already on it, no trip through the Birdex.
  • The quick opening toggle moved down beside the Buy eggs chip, where it can actually be found.

Daily feathers between friends

  • One button sends 2 feathers to every friend on your list, and a golden Claim button collects everything your friends have sent you. The hub's friend button shows a badge when gifts are waiting.

Compare birds side by side

  • Hold your finger on a spotted card in the Birdex, pick 2 or 3 birds, and see them next to each other: close-ups of exactly the feathers that separate lookalike species, real range maps, and all the numbers in one row.

The rest

  • The World First counter on your profile opens now: a trophy list of every bird you were the very first in the world to spot, with the card, the name and the Latin name.
  • Birdey no longer silences Spotify or your podcast on Android. Your audio keeps playing, and Birdey's own music can be turned off in Settings.
  • You can sign up for news about the app, either in the new terms and privacy popup or with a Newsletter toggle in Settings.
  • The app shows the welcome screen straight away on a cold start instead of hanging a few seconds on the splash logo. The session check runs behind a small loading bar on the screen itself.
  • When several new birds land in the game at once, the ADDED TO THE GAME parade glides from card to card with no loading screen in between, and the bird, frame and background land as one card.
  • Zooming into a card from the profile showcase no longer blinks the silver, gold or bronze frame away and back.
  • Collections already hit by the ghost card bug repair themselves now, including for players who had it before the previous update.

Happy spotting.

16 August 2026 Fixes v1.2.9

Your collection stays where you put it

Two bugs could make Birdey forget what you had spotted: one on iPhone that downloaded your whole collection again after every update, and one that showed birds you had already spotted as missing. Both are fixed, and the second one repairs itself the next time you open the app.

A collection that stays put

  • On iPhone, an app update meant sitting through "Preparing collection" while 500+ cards you already had came down again. The images stay on the phone now, so an update goes straight back into the game.
  • Birds you had spotted could sit in the Birdex as grey ghost cards, and the feather shop would happily offer them back to you and then refuse the purchase. Restarting did nothing, clearing the cache did nothing. The app now notices when it is missing something and fetches the real answer instead of guessing. Anyone already affected is repaired on the next start, no reinstall needed.

Cards that look the way they should

  • Mutation cards had a small spot where the colours boiled over into harsh magenta and black streaks. The glowing orb behind it never belonged on a card with an effect, so it is gone, and the shine is as restrained as the rest of the card.
  • A mutation of a threatened bird wore the plain icons on top of its silver frame instead of its own. The icons follow the card's metal now, exactly like on a normal card.
  • The rainbow on an EX card covers the whole card however you tilt it. Tip it far enough before and a corner could sit with no rainbow at all.

Quests you can actually finish

  • Daily quests no longer send you into a habitat you cannot enter. A new player can only play the forest to begin with, and could still draw "go on a field trip in the desert", a quest that could not be started at all.
  • "Earn 400 League Points in one round" was impossible: a flawless round pays exactly 325. The ladder is now 175, 220, 270 and 325, which is one dropped bird per step, so the top quest is the perfect round. Reported by Jammykat in Discord.

The small stuff

  • The nest on the round summary writes the real number beside it when you win more eggs than it can hold, so a boosted round no longer looks like an ordinary one.
  • Two birds showed two names on the answer button, as if the app could not decide which bird it was asking about. One name now, and the right one.
  • If you are the top contributor at the feeder on a Sunday, the pick is a gold card at the top of Home instead of buried under the contributor list.

Happy spotting.

14 August 2026 Fixes v1.2.8

The filter you pick is the filter you get

Pick a country or a continent and the first round of the session stays inside it now. Short Hard-mode rounds keep their XP, and the daily quest that promised League Points has started counting them.

Rounds that stick to what you picked

  • Pick Europe, or any country, and the very first round can no longer slip past the filter and hand you American birds. The round waits for your species list, and refuses to start rather than serve you a round that ignores your choice.
  • A round can no longer start on fewer than 10 birds. Players with a small Hard-mode pool could get a round of one or two cards, play it honestly, and have the server reject it as too fast. The XP disappeared every time. It does not now.

World First is only offered when there is something to win

  • The World First screen could appear on a card you had already claimed it on. You shared it publicly and got nothing back: no top 30 place, no pages, no crown. It is only offered on cards where there is still something to take.

The quest that promised League Points now counts them

  • The daily "earn XP in one round" quest was counting a third XP number that is not shown anywhere in the app, so you could finish a 600 XP round and watch the quest stall at 350 of 400. Both XP quests now count League Points, the same number the summary screen shows and the League ranks you on, and the card says League Points too. Reported by Lorthirk in Discord.

The small stuff

  • The feeder's Egg Rush is now x6 eggs for 15 minutes instead of x4 for 30. A shorter window, but a harder one.
  • A mutation card keeps its rarity frame. The mutation effect used to eat the frame, so an Endangered mutation lost its silver.
  • Browsing your collection with the arrows on a card shows the next card sharp straight away, instead of starting blurred and sharpening on the way.
  • Sorting the Birdex by "recently spotted" shows the right dates for the 30 starter birds. They used to have no date at all and sat at the bottom.
  • Fixed a crash when picking a country or US state right as the screen behind the picker closed.
  • On iPhone, the update prompt sends you to the App Store instead of TestFlight.
  • The World Land Trust donation certificate shows on birdey.gg and on the press page again. The file had never made it onto the server.
  • A bird drop costs you one update instead of five. Birds are finished completely, image, card, story and Latin, before they land in the game, so nobody is stuck mid-round redownloading the catalogue over and over.
  • Opening the app reads your mastery from one place instead of up to 358, so the start is quicker.
  • The League board loads your group's standings from a 15 minute cache instead of rebuilding it on every open. Your own row is still live; only everyone else's XP can be up to a quarter of an hour old.

Happy spotting.

11 August 2026 New feature Fixes v1.2.7

The sign-up wall is gone

You can open Birdey and start playing now without creating an account first. Create one later whenever you want your collection to follow you to another phone. And the dodo is in the game: an EX card with real depth to it, first in line at the New Bird Feeder.

Play before you sign up

  • The account wall that used to sit at the front door is gone. Open Birdey and you're straight into a round, no sign-up needed. Create an account whenever you want your collection to follow you to another phone, and everything you've already spotted comes with you the moment you do.
  • There's also a new choice for how bird images load: all up front, or one at a time as you need them, useful on a patchy connection.

The dodo has joined the flock

  • The dodo is an EX card now, with real parallax depth: the bird and its background sit in separate layers, so the card shifts as you tilt it. It's first in line at the New Bird Feeder, so it'll be the next bird released when the community fills it. Old Finch has a story ready: the dodo is filed alongside the ostrich and the rest of the big flightless outliers, and he was, in fact, a pigeon. About twelve kilos of one, five times the heaviest pigeon alive today.

Ten more birds get their Hard mode

  • Same bird, no background to guess from: Oriental Pied-Hornbill, Red Knot, Northern Lapwing, Common Pochard, Lesser White-fronted Goose, Long-tailed Duck, Black-legged Kittiwake, Imperial Eagle, Steppe Eagle and Northern Bald Ibis all got their Hard-mode twin.

Browse the Birdex without leaving a card

  • Open a card in the Birdex and there's now an arrow on either side of it, going to the previous and next card in exactly the order your screen shows them, same filters, same sort. Suggested by Jammykat in Discord, and his dad.

Practice more than one family at a time

  • You can now pick two or three bird families for a practice round instead of just one. A family where you'd only spotted five species used to have the rest of the round filled with random birds; now you can stack a couple of families together and get a round that's actually about them. Suggested by KingBadger87 in Discord.

Fold the groups you're not looking at

  • Tap a family bar in the Birdex, Owls, Waterfowl, wherever, and its cards collapse, leaving a clean list of families and how many you're missing in each. Same for continents in the country filter. Birdey remembers what you folded shut, next time you open it.

Level board is back on the World Leaderboard

  • It sits next to Collection, Emblems and Latin again. Turns out people were using it even after it looked like nobody was.

The small stuff

  • Shared bird images are square again, 1080x1080, instead of cropped tall with the World First banner cut off at the sides.
  • Buying a card with feathers no longer leaves the card screen stuck open after the purchase animation finishes.
  • Picking "Europe" as a whole continent in the country filter now actually gives you European birds. It used to be mostly American.
  • Birdex search now matches a bird's Latin name too, not just the name in your own language.
  • Range maps match the real country filters now. The Northern Gannet, for one, was missing from its own map at the colony (Heligoland) that puts it in the Germany round.
  • Old Finch's explanations after a wrong guess are back in your own language. Dutch, Italian and Polish players were quietly getting English for about half the birds.
  • Daily quests refresh properly after a night in the background instead of loading forever.
  • The rarity buttons in the Melt tab no longer run off the edge of small screens with large system text.
  • Feather Shop filters work again, and now live in the same filter drawer as the Birdex.
  • The World First explainer no longer implies you can only hold one at a time. You keep every card you're first to find, forever; the countdown is only how long until you can take the next one.
  • Old Finch's Latin tab reads a name in the right order now: genus first, species after, same as the game does everywhere else.
  • The Double XP pop quiz is one tap shorter. Confirm now doubles as continue, same as a regular guess.
  • The League's climb animation plays once again instead of replaying every time you scroll away from your row and back, and it now plays when you land on 1st, 2nd or 3rd place too.
  • Dragging a card to turn it now clears the arrows, bars and panel around it while you're holding it, and brings them back the instant you let go, instead of them sitting half on top of the card mid-turn.

Happy spotting.

5 August 2026 New feature Fixes v1.2.5

Ninety-four countries to bird in

The country filter went from eighteen countries to ninety-four. Point the game at Turkey, Mexico, Greece, Morocco, Switzerland, South Korea or any of the others, and you get the birds you could really spot there.

Real lists, not everything ever recorded

  • Each list is built from how often a bird is actually reported in that country, so the one American warbler that turned up in a Portuguese garden in 2011 is not sitting in your Portugal list pretending to be a local. Every one of the ninety-four holds at least a hundred of the birds in the game.
  • The lists hold the country's full bird life, not only the species that have cards yet. When a new bird joins the game it appears under every country it belongs to, on its own.

Bird names in seven more languages

  • Brazilian Portuguese, Mexican Spanish, Turkish, Czech, Romanian, Greek and Hungarian. You pick the language for bird names separately from the language of the app, so you can play in English and still learn the names you will hear in the field at home.

Two places that were on the wrong continent

  • Portugal was filed under Africa, so picking Europe left it out. Trinidad and Tobago sat under North America, though the island is eleven kilometres off Venezuela and its birds are South American. Both are where they belong now.
  • A bird released through the New Bird Feeder now arrives with its world map, its Latin name explained and its story from Old Finch, all from the first day instead of a few days later.

Happy spotting.

4 August 2026 New feature Fixes v1.2.4

Now the cards know where the birds live

Every bird in the Birdex can now show you where in the world it actually lives, and the whole game can be pointed at a continent instead of at one country or the entire planet. And if you have been sitting on a pile of eggs, you can open a hundred of them in one go.

Hatch a hundred eggs at once

  • There is a x100 next to x1, x3 and x10 now. Anything up to Vulnerable goes past in the quick hatch, and the moment an Endangered, Critically Endangered or Extinct bird is in the shell, everything slows down and plays out in full. A hundred eggs stays watchable, and the bird that deserves the wait still gets it.
  • Those rare ones can no longer be tapped away by mistake either. Tapping through a big hatch used to mean the next tap landed on the next egg before it had even started rocking, so the one bird you wanted to see went by in a blink. The shell has to break first now.
  • When the last egg is claimed, a x10 or x100 hands you the receipt: every bird that was new to you on one board, and you can tap any of them to open the card properly. Spare copies are counted on one line underneath, so the numbers add up to the eggs you spent.

A hatch you can walk away from

  • Closing the app in the middle of a hatch used to cost you the eggs you had not watched yet. The birds are all yours the moment the eggs are spent now, so the reveals are only the show. Shut the app after three of a hundred and the other ninety-seven are still in your Birdex.

Old Finch finished the collection

  • Every one of the 427 birds in the game now has a story from him, and an explanation of what its Latin name actually means. The last stretch included the sparrowhawk that stopped migrating because the same people who used to shoot him started filling feeders, and Melospiza lincolnii, named after the friend Audubon happened to bring along on the trip.

A world map on every card

  • Open any bird in your Birdex and the card shows you its range. It is built from millions of observations that birders in the field reported to eBird and published through GBIF, so what you are looking at is where people have really seen it. The map for a bird you thought you knew can surprise you.

Birding by continent

  • The country filter grew a step in the middle. Until now the choice was the entire world or one single country. Now you can aim the game at a whole continent: two weeks in South America, or just curious what Africa is holding, and it is one tap. Countries sit grouped under their continent in the picker too, so finding yours is quicker even if you never pick a continent at all.

Every square metre saved, in one place

  • There is a board now for all the habitat saved since Birdey opened, not just the current month, so the whole flock's work is visible rather than the part of it that happened since the first. And the square metres you have helped protect now earn permanent titles. The old nature titles expired when the month turned over. These do not. What you saved, you keep.

You can see what is in the egg before you hatch it

  • There is an Odds tab on the hatch screen now. Open it and you get every bird that egg can hatch and the real chance of each one, grouped by rarity, with the birds you have not found yet listed first. If the Sunday event is running or a Rare Bird Alert is boosting something, those are on the list too, with what they are actually worth. No more guessing why a forest egg handed you a seabird.

EX birds are hatch only now

  • The rarest birds in the game have left the feather shop. An EX can only come out of an egg from now on, which is the same rule the mutations have lived by since July. Nothing else about them changed: same odds, same eggs, they are just not for sale any more.

The leaderboard competes on collections now

  • The level board is gone. Nobody was really competing on levels. The World Leaderboard now ranks on how much of the whole catalogue you have spotted, shown as a completion ring, and equal collections are separated by level, which is all the old board ever measured anyway. It also means the board reopens every time new birds arrive: a drop pushes everyone's percentage back down, so the top is somewhere you have to keep getting to rather than somewhere you arrive.

The league counts the week you actually had

  • The weekly league runs on League Points now instead of total XP. It measures this week and nothing else, so somebody who joined on Tuesday and had a brilliant few days can beat somebody who has been here since spring. The board was quietly rewarding seniority. Now it rewards the week.

The Birdex stops stuttering

  • Card images are an eighth of the size they were, for the same picture. The scroll is smooth now, all the way down a full collection. It also means a much smaller download the first time you open the app and a good deal less of your data every time after, which matters when you are out in a field somewhere.

New birders hatch before they are let loose

  • The tutorial used to point at your eggs and tell you that you could hatch one. Now it hands you the egg and waits. You watch your first bird come out of it before the game lets go of your hand.

Credit where it is due

  • There is a page in Settings now for the work Birdey is built on. The bird names come from the eBird taxonomy maintained by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the same list Merlin uses, so a bird is called the same thing here as in the app you already know, in every language Birdey supports. How rare a bird is follows its real conservation status on the IUCN Red List, so a card's rarity is not a game balance decision, it is what the assessment says. And the new range maps come from GBIF.

The small stuff

  • Friend requests are not silent any more. You get told when somebody sends you one, and when somebody accepts yours.
  • The league's reward amounts on screen did not always match what the week's close actually paid out.
  • The feedback panel after each guess was hard to read on the brighter tiers. Redone.
  • The app could sit on the launch screen indefinitely on a weak connection instead of carrying on without the parts it could not reach.
  • A round that never reached the server still showed you the XP, the level sweep and the PERFECT stamp. It is honest about it now, and it does not quietly lose your progress either.
  • Buttons on the hatch screen could land on top of each other on some phones.
  • A bird released by the New Bird Feeder shows its real range map the same day it arrives, instead of falling back to a region badge until the next update.
  • Push notifications work again on a fresh install. A rule was quietly refusing the write that renews the address your phone is reached at.
  • The app carries a lot less home at startup. It fetches a small index and then only the birds that actually changed, instead of the whole catalogue every time somebody wins a World First.

Happy spotting.

31 July 2026 New feature Fixes v1.2.2

The flock releases the birds now

This one has been brewing across three builds. The short version: new birds no longer arrive by update, the flock releases them itself, and Birdey has started teaching the pairs that fool everyone.

The New Bird Feeder

  • The old XP feeder retired, and the biggest feeder yet took its perch. When the flock fills the New Bird Feeder, a brand-new species is released into the game that very moment: the ticker goes gold, and within minutes everyone can hatch it, no app update needed. It refills up to three times a day on weekdays, so a good week can bring as many as fifteen new birds. Nobody knows which bird is inside until it lands, and the birder whose seed fills it gets the reveal.
  • Away for a few days? When you come back, every bird released while you were gone slams in like a fresh card pull, one by one, under an ADDED TO THE GAME headline. Nothing slips past you.

The pop quiz: a chance at double XP

  • Answer a tricky bird right and Birdey may pop a small bonus quiz: close-up crops of the exact body part that separates it from the birds everyone mixes it up with. Which legs belong to the Chiffchaff? Which head is the Rook's? Pick right and that bird pays double XP. Pick wrong and it costs nothing, you still get the one line that tells the two apart. It starts on a set of classic lookalikes, warblers, crows, tits, swallows, ducks and more, and new pairs will keep joining.

Practice one family at a time

  • A new pill on the Play screen lets you aim your practice at a single bird family: owls, waders and gulls, warblers, whichever group you keep mixing up. The whole round drills inside the family you chose, and small families get topped up with your regular mix so a round is always ten birds.

The Lucky Egg is a real egg now

  • While you have lucky hatches banked, a green-and-gold egg with a clover crest sits at the end of the hatch carousel, and hatching that egg is what spends a charge. Your other eggs stay normal, so you can keep farming a habitat without burning the boost. The odds got fairer too: each rarity has its own rank-up chance now, so lucky eggs stay exciting without flooding the top of the ladder.

Mutations and EX birds are wild now

  • The strange color-shifted birds left the feather shop. The only way to meet a mutation now is to hatch it, at 1 in 10,000 per egg. EX birds left the shop too: never for sale, only hatched, at the same rarity as always. And if a mutation turns up in a practice round, it is always the last card, so a full combo meets it at peak multiplier.

Old Finch, fully moved in

  • The old birder now covers all 409 birds in the collection with his field notes, and his panel in the Birdex grew a second tab where he explains what each bird's Latin name actually means. He is also the one who steps in after a wrong answer now. No more "AI Teacher", it is just him, in all 13 languages.

Two new halls of fame

  • The World Leaderboard grew an Emblems board for the biggest medal collections, and a Latin board where the true bird nerds show how many birds they have mastered by scientific name. The Birdex can filter by your medals too, so your gold shelf is one tap away.

The small stuff

  • Marathon days pay better: the daily XP taper never drops below half anymore.
  • Rare Bird Alerts open twice a day now instead of around the clock, and Sundays stay clear for the flock's own event. When the ticker fires, it means something again.
  • Write-the-name cards cap at three per round, so a round never turns into a spelling test.
  • The friends list shows the same weekly XP as the league board, quest claims and card converts are instant, and a pile of small screen fixes rode along.

Happy spotting.

26 July 2026 New feature Event Fixes v1.2.0

A feeder the whole flock fills

Birdey has mostly been a quiet thing you do on your own. This one is about doing it together. The big new thing is a feeder the whole flock fills, and once it is full, everyone gets the boost, not just the birders who chipped in.

Community Feeders

  • Everyone feeds one shared feeder with seed, and the moment it fills, every player can claim the boost. There are three daily feeders: a day of double eggs, a day of double XP, or a day of lucky hatches that rank up in rarity. Everyone who fed it is cheered by name, and the claim card crowns whoever gave the most, so the birders who filled it get real credit.

The Sunday Rare Bird Event

  • Every seed the flock feeds all week builds one shared pool, and the more everyone feeds it, the rarer the bird the top contributor gets to pick on a real pick-a-bird screen. Then all Sunday, everyone can go spot that same bird, with your 100th egg guaranteeing it if it has not turned up before then.

Inviting friends pays more now

  • Friends you invite start with a bigger welcome: eggs when they join, and more once they have played a few days. You earn milestone bonuses for bringing a whole flock too, with rewards at 3, 5 and 10 active friends, up to a large egg jackpot for bringing ten. A new ladder on the invite screen shows the rung you are chasing next.

New birds and new ground

  • Lots of new birds to spot, and three habitats, mountain, desert and ocean, are now fully playable, with new foil cards to chase.

Rarer rare birds

  • Rarity was rebalanced, so rare and endangered birds are properly rare now. Hatching an endangered bird is a real event, the kind you screenshot, instead of a fortnightly shrug.

The small stuff

  • You can turn a single duplicate into feathers instead of the whole stack, with a little minus and plus dial, in the Feather Shop or straight from a card's Birdex page.
  • Claim a world first and the card you share already wears your name, the instant you win the crown.
  • The Impact board is far easier to read now, a bright day sky over green land instead of the old washed-out block.
  • Your Lucky boost shows on the hatch screen, so you can see how many rank-up hatches you have left as you crack eggs.
  • The rare bird alert banner no longer cuts off long bird names.
  • And it all runs a little smoother and steadier underneath.

Happy spotting.

Old Finch er her

Vis dine fugle frem

World First-holdere beholder deres kronramme, top-30-findere deres stjerneramme.

Mere stabil under fjerene

God spotting.

24 July 2026 New feature Fixes v1.1.9

An old birder moved in

This note gathers up three weeks of work, and most of it grew straight out of your reports and ideas. The short version: the Birdex got a proper field guide's bones, Latin mode became the real thing, and there is an old man in the app now who knows things.

Old Finch is here

  • Tap a bird you have spotted and Old Finch leans in: a small round portrait beside the card, and one short paragraph with the one strange, true thing about that bird, told the way a veteran points a bird out to a friend. 176 birds have their story so far, and more are on the way.

The Birdex thinks in families now

  • Flip the new switch under the filters and your collection sorts itself into real bird families, 24 of them, from owls to waders. Each family gets a banner that sticks to the top while you scroll, with its silhouette and a live spotted counter, and a slim rail of silhouettes down the edge lets you jump straight to any family.
  • The whole top of the Birdex was rebuilt: a real search field, a Filters button, and your feather balance in one slim row, with your active filters as small chips underneath.
  • New sort options too: by card number, by what you spotted most recently, or by what needs practice.

Latin mode is the real thing now

  • Latin practice is Latin all the way down: typing a bird's everyday name no longer counts, and type-it-yourself rounds are earned on the Latin track itself.
  • Miss a name and the teacher no longer compares feathers. It tells you what the name actually means, and where the two names part ways. Every bird in the game now has a researched, sourced explanation of its scientific name. Get one right and you see what the whole name means, exactly when you want to know.

Show off your birds

  • Every bird you have spotted can now be shared straight from the share arrow on its card page. World First holders keep their crown frame, top-30 finders their star frame.

Five birds you asked for

  • The Short-eared Owl, Steller's Sea-Eagle, Zebra Finch, Black Woodpecker and Northern Gannet are in the game, all requested by beta testers. The Sea-Eagle and the Zebra Finch are the first birds from Asia.

The league shows your climb

  • Climb while you were away and the board now shows it: your row slides up past the birders you overtook. A small history button replays last week's ceremony whenever you like. And the bug where a round played just past Sunday midnight could hand the weekly crown to the wrong player is fixed.

Steadier under the feathers

  • Fixed the top crash: the background music could, rarely, take the whole app down mid-loop. It now quietly heals itself and plays on.
  • If a hatch ever fails to save, on spotty wifi for instance, the game now says so and stops, and your egg stays untouched. No more silently lost birds.
  • Typing a bird's name forgives your keyboard now: accents, curly apostrophes and stray double spaces no longer hide the right answer.
  • Updating the app no longer replays tutorials you already dismissed, and the amber "new bird" dots are now tracked per account, so on a shared phone you only celebrate your own finds.

The small stuff

  • Bird names now come in Russian and Ukrainian, under Settings.
  • Profiles show a quiet "Playing since" line.
  • Settings has a Join our Discord button. Come say hi.
  • The season screen shows the roadmap: how many members keep Birdey going, and what unlocks as more join.
  • The feather shop sells up to 10 birds a week, with a counter so you can see where you stand, and the monthly Top 50 pays out in eggs now.
  • Scientific names sit in italics under the bird's name on the hatch and answer screens.
  • Passing on a bird is quiet now. No red flash, no thud. Passing is not failing.

Happy spotting.

Daglige opgaver betaler i æg

God spotting.

15 July 2026 New feature Fixes v1.1.6

The birds keep their own hours now

A handful of real new things this time. The biggest one is quiet, but it sits close to the heart of what Birdey is about: the birds now show up when they actually would.

Owls after dark, and the day birds by day

  • Birds now keep the hours they really keep. Owls, nightjars, woodcock and the night heron turn up from your eggs a little more often after dark, and the daytime birds get their turn while the sun is up. It follows the same clock that turns the app's sky to day or night, so what you see on the hub matches which birds are stirring. The hatch screen wears a little round window of the current sky now, a sun by day, a crescent moon and stars at night, so you always know whose turn it is. Tap it for a one-line explainer.

Practice that tests you for real

  • Once you have earned a medal on a bird, it stops handing you four cards to pick from. Every so often it asks you to type the bird's name yourself, and typing it right pays double XP. It shows up the first time you meet a bird you have medaled, then comes back on a rhythm set by that medal. Kids mode never shows it.

Find a friend by name

  • Adding a friend is a search box now, not a guessing game. Start typing a birdey name and a live list of matching players drops down, each with their avatar and frame, so you just tap the right one. People you are already friends with show a tag, and the ones you have already invited too, so you never send a duplicate.

Daily quests pay in eggs

  • Every daily quest pays out in eggs now, topping out at 5 eggs for the rarest, and the rare quests turn up more often than they used to. The nest you collect even shows the real clutch you are about to take, so a 4-egg quest sits under a nest with 4 eggs in it.

A clearer first walk-through

  • The first-run tutorial points with a clear green ring on every step now, not just the "tap this" ones, so you can always see what the coach is pointing at. The medal explainer tells the truth about the Diamond too: it is the bird-nerd flex you earn by naming a bird in Latin.

The small stuff

  • The first time you own two versions of the same bird, Birdex quietly shows you the arrow that flips between them, so you never miss it.
  • The field-trip country you pick on the play screen now sticks between launches instead of resetting.
  • The voucher book shows your newest vouchers at the top.
  • The Impact leaderboard always shows the prizes up for grabs now, even the spots no one has taken yet.
  • Add-friend messages now read in your own language.
  • Fixed a rare crash when leaving the voucher book mid-claim, and a play screen that could lock the PLAY button while it said "All habitats".

Happy spotting.

14. juli 2026 Opdatering Rettelser v1.1.5

Lettere for dit batteri

God spotting.

14 July 2026 Update Fixes v1.1.5

Smoother, lighter, and a card zoom that finally feels right

No new birds this time, just a lot of small things made better. This one is about the app feeling smoother and lighter in your hands.

Opening a card feels right now

  • Tapping a bird in your Birdex used to open with a little stutter, the card's pieces snapping into place one at a time until it settled. Now it zooms open cleanly as one card, then sharpens into the tiltable version with a soft fade.

Lighter on your battery

  • The app now goes properly quiet when nothing is moving. It used to keep redrawing the screen many times a second even while you sat still on a menu, which drained battery and stole smoothness from everything else. Now it draws only when something actually changes, and scrolling the Birdex is smoother for it.

Egg screen polish

  • Each egg now sits centered on the stage with its arrows and counter around it. Swiping between habitats no longer flashes a plain egg before the real one loads, and the counter on every egg now counts cards, so it matches the Mystery egg and tells you exactly how many you can still hatch.

The small stuff

  • A batch of text that was stuck in English now reads in your language, across every language Birdey supports.
  • The soft shadow under each Birdex card is back, now drawn in a way that costs your phone nothing while you scroll.

Happy spotting.

13. juli 2026 Ny funktion Rettelser v1.1.4

God spotting.

13 July 2026 New feature Fixes v1.1.4

Habitat eggs, a Mystery egg and bird names in Latin

This one is about where your eggs come from, and a new way to test yourself.

Choose where your egg comes from

  • The hatch screen is a place again. Pick a region (the Americas, Europe & Africa, or Asia & Oceania) and a habitat (forest, wetlands, ocean, grassland, urban, mountain or desert), and your egg draws from the birds that actually live there. A little counter on each egg shows how many of that habitat's birds you have already spotted, so you can aim your hatches at the ones you are still missing.

Eggs that look like their habitat

  • Every hatch egg is now its own illustration: a deep-green forest egg with a carved tree, an ocean egg with rolling waves, golden grassland, slate urban, granite mountain, sun-baked desert. It rocks as it hatches with the rarity light leaking through the cracks, then shatters into its own painted shards.

A Mystery egg

  • At the end of the carousel sits a confetti question-mark egg that hatches a completely random bird from anywhere in Birdey. Its counter is your whole collection, so it doubles as your overall "birds spotted" progress.

Learn your birds in Latin

  • A new third practice chip, Easy / Hard / Latin, flips every name in the round to its scientific name. It pays double XP toward your level while you play it, and each bird earns its own diamond medal once you can name it in Latin thirty times in a row. Your collection is untouched: Latin is a separate skill track, so switching to it never re-spots a bird.

Field trips that show the birds you would actually see

  • Country lists are rebuilt from how often each bird is really reported, so the one-in-a-lifetime vagrants are gone. And picking the US now shows a state chip: narrow your field trip to Texas, Alaska, Puerto Rico, or leave it on all states.

The small stuff

  • Invite a friend and their bonus eggs now apply on their own, by matching the email they signed up with, so nobody has to type a code.
  • Spot an ultra-rare EX bird and the whole flock celebrates: everyone gets a gift egg stamped with your name, and claiming it sends a cheer back to you.
  • Cheers you have earned now show up on your profile, for you and for anyone visiting it.
  • Button taps sound the instant you touch them, and the double chirp on Next is down to one.
  • A couple of "crash" reports that were never really crashes are quietly silenced.

Happy spotting.

12. juli 2026 Rettelser v1.1.3

God spotting.

12 July 2026 Fixes v1.1.3

A quiet one: notifications that reach you, and a smoother app

This one is quiet.

Notifications that actually reach you

  • there was a problem with notifications not appearing sometimes, that should be fixed now if you opted in for it. On top of that, when a notification mentions a bird it now shows up in your own language.

Smoother, everywhere

  • Birdey moved to a new engine, the part that draws every frame on your screen. Foils, hatches and the little animations hold a steadier frame rate now, and a display glitch that some android phones had on the season screen should be gone now. if not please report the bug thru the ingame bug report in settings.

The small stuff that was quietly wrong

  • A handful of little errors, gone. The Settings links (news, Instagram, Facebook, privacy, terms) open again instead of doing nothing when you tap them. Filtering the Birdex by a single habitat isolates it every time now, instead of getting stuck once you had toggled a few. The double bird chirp on a correct guess is down to a single one. The Danish impact board reads "Reddet natur" instead of the old confusing wording. And a large language polish pass tidied up phrasing across ALL 13 languages.

Happy spotting.

12. juli 2026 Ny funktion Rettelser v1.1.2

For Birdey+ medlemmer

Mere fair for alle

Supporters holder fest for hele flokken

God spotting.

12 July 2026 New feature Fixes v1.1.2

The Egg Update: pages became eggs, and eggs hatch into birds

The most confusing word in Birdey is gone. "Pages" are now eggs, and eggs do the obvious thing: they hatch into birds. Your balance is exactly the same, just a new shell. Here is what is new.

Your nest grows eggs

  • A Daily Nest now sits on your home screen and quietly fills with eggs over time. Come back, tap it, and collect. It is the calm daily reason to open the app, and it now tells you when it is full.

Eggs hatch into birds

  • There is a new hatching spot one tap under PLAY. Your saved eggs sit there breathing until you hatch them: the egg rocks harder and harder, light leaks through the cracks in the bird's rarity colour, the shell bursts, and the card rises out big and shining. Common birds pop in about a second, an Extinct one keeps you waiting nearly seven. Sitting on a hoard? Hatch a whole pile at once.

A new way to claim

  • Round rewards, daily quests and your nest now share one little ritual: a nest appears and your eggs and feathers leap out one by one, arcing up into your counters with a springy bounce. In a hurry, one tap sends everything home at once.

For Birdey+ members

  • Members get a bigger, lusher nest with a golden rim and a few blossoms, holding a full clutch of ten eggs instead of two, and it fills five times faster. You also find five times more eggs as you play.

Fairer for everyone

  • Hard mode and daily quest rerolls are now free for every player. Subscribing is about the bigger nest, more eggs, protecting real habitat and supporting a solo developer, never about locking away difficulty.

Supporters throw parties for the whole flock

  • When someone supports Birdey, every player gets a little voucher book in the corner of the home screen. One tap claims your gift and sends a cheer flying to the supporter's name. The engine is ready now; the supporter store that feeds it is coming soon.

A language polish, and a notification fix

  • Every language got a proper going-over, so the text now reads like a native wrote it, not a machine.
  • We fixed a bug that could stop notifications from showing up at all. If you never heard from Birdey, give it another try.
  • Eggs now hatch birds from all around the world, the home screen wears the same warm day-to-night top bar as the rest of the app, and there is a pile of fixes for small and zoomed screens.

Happy spotting.

Notifications with birdsong, a Birdex that runs the economy and PERFECT rounds

Build 48 is the update where Birdey learned to knock politely. Notifications finally look like Birdey and land you in the right place when you tap them, the whole card economy moved home into your Birdex, the leagues became pure skill races, and a new layer of moments covers the entire game: level-ups worth celebrating, PERFECT stamps, gifts you get to unwrap, and an app that feels faster everywhere.

Notifications that finally look like Birdey

  • A bird in the status bar. Birdey notifications on Android now show a little forest-green bird silhouette instead of a gray blob.
  • Real categories. Daily reminders, rewards & gifts, support replies and Rare Bird Alerts each get their own channel on your phone, so you can mute one kind without losing the rest. The exciting ones pop as banners.
  • Tap and you land in the right place. A daily reminder opens the game, a support reply opens your ticket, a gift opens the bell, and the league result opens the league.
  • Pushes that arrive mid-game no longer vanish. A branded banner slides down with a soft chime and a light haptic, and tapping it follows the notification.
  • Kinder reminders. If you drift away, Birdey nudges you the next evening, again after three days, one last time after a week, then goes quiet on purpose. No more double pings, and the notifications toggle now truly silences everything.
  • The daily reminder speaks all 13 languages, warns you properly when your streak is on the line, and shows today's bird card art right in the notification.
  • New pushes for moments that used to happen in silence: a support reply, a friend's gift, your Top 50 payout and your Monday league result.

The Birdex now runs the card economy

  • Melting and buying moved home. Your feather balance now sits in the Birdex header, missing birds can be bought right from their slot in the collection with an inspect-before-you-buy sheet, and every card can be melted from its own page. The Feather Shop is now purely card trading.
  • Pages are bought from the hub. Tap your page counter under PLAY and the buy card, with quantity picks and your daily cap, is built right into the explainer.
  • Pages explain themselves. The counter now lives in its own labeled "Pages" strip under PLAY, and every new bird's reveal tells you which page it was written on.
  • Mutation cards wear a sparkle chip that explains what a mutation is, and the Hard tab explains the see-through cards.
  • Fast scrolling is silky now. Card images no longer flash in row by row.

The leagues are pure skill races

  • Every bird is worth the same 10 XP, and only your combo multiplies it. A rare collection can no longer buy a rank in the weekly league or the monthly Top 50. Only sharp eyes count.
  • The reward minimum is said out loud. A progress line shows how far you are from unlocking feathers, and the Monday result explains a zero payout instead of staying silent.

New moments

  • Leveling up is a real moment now. On the round summary your level ring sweeps to full, pops in a burst of gold sparks, ticks over to the new number, and only then does the LEVEL UP banner slam in.
  • A flawless round gets stamped PERFECT. A gold stamp with a shine sweep and flying sparks lands over your 10/10.
  • Gifts get unwrapped. A friend's gift bounces in wrapped up with the sender's name, you tear it open, and confetti bursts as the contents are revealed.
  • Combos spark. Extending a combo fires a quick confetti flash right as your XP rolls in, and feather moments got a voice: a soft chime as feathers stream toward the counter, a whoosh as a bought card lands.
  • Tab switching is a carousel. Jump to a tab further right and the new screen pushes in from the right while the old one slides out, mirrored the other way. No flashing, no ghosts.
  • The boards build themselves up. Rows cascade into place, the podium rises, and your own row is found with a sweep of light.
  • Hand-drawn icons everywhere. The whole icon family is now 14 warm field-notebook icons drawn for Birdey, and loading is a drifting Birdey feather instead of the stock circle.
  • The app pushes back with feeling. A wrong friend code or a taken name shakes the input with a little thud, and locked avatars and borders explain how to unlock them.

Faster and friendlier

  • The app stops animating what you can't see. Hidden tabs now sleep, so the tab you are looking at gets every frame to itself.
  • Large text no longer breaks the layout. The game now renders all text at one fixed, comfy size, so pills, cards and buttons stay exactly where they belong on every device.
  • The hub looks the same on every phone. Everything scales smoothly with the screen instead of snapping between a "small phone" and a "big phone" layout.
  • Read-aloud is back everywhere it was missing, so young players can play along.
  • The game explains itself. "How a round works" is back in the game header and now tells the truth about combos, the RUSTY banner reassures you that your medals are safe, the ×2 XP chip tells you where the boost came from, and the Bird of the Day now says how to find it: play its habitat today.
  • Birdey Pro: the paywall now shows all five perks, and you can pick the yearly plan right there, wearing a gold ribbon that shows 2 months are free.

Fixes

  • Correct answers no longer fire their confetti twice on combo answers.
  • Closed a lurking crash behind the round summary's new level ring.
  • The "+N new" celebration in the Birdex now flies the real Birdey bird instead of a generic blue emoji.
  • Kids mode: the tutorial can no longer get stuck at the Shop step.
  • The Easy/Hard toggle and the Haptics setting now speak all 13 languages.
  • On the home screen, cards once again dissolve softly into the sky just before they reach your name.
  • World First rewards now speak the same language as the rest of the game: +10 pages, not "+10 pulls".

  • Transparente fugle betaler mere.

8 July 2026 New feature Fixes v1.0.9 · build 46

Leagues, titles and living avatar borders

Build 46 is the biggest update yet. There is a whole new competitive layer with weekly and monthly races that hand out real titles, avatar borders that now come alive, a Hard practice mode for the sharp-eyed, a glowed-up Feather Shop, and a reward chest waiting at the end of every round.

Compete and show off

  • Weekly and monthly races. The League screen now hosts both: a weekly race that resets every Monday and a monthly race with feather payouts down the board. Climb the feather rank bands and you earn a title you wear for the month.
  • A monthly Impact race. Save the most habitat this month and you take home an expiring showcase title like Habitat Hero or Nature Guardian. Status only, never power, and it resets so newcomers can always take the crown.
  • Titles everywhere. Your earned titles and emblem nameplates now show on your profile, on friends, and on every board and podium, and a new title picker lets you preview and choose the one you show off.
  • The World Leaderboard became a hall of fame: Level and Impact side by side as big tiles, always on show.
  • Combo colours climb the rarity ladder as your streak grows, from green all the way to mythic violet at a x10 combo.

New looks

  • Avatar border ladders. Three earned ladders (Wildwood, Ascent and Open Hand) plus the Founder and Early Bird frames, and your highest tier shows automatically.
  • The rarest frames now come alive. The top borders slowly cycle colour, drift little light-orbs around the ring and breathe a soft glow. It only plays on your own portrait so long boards stay crisp, and it respects your Living UI setting.

Play your way

  • Easy and Hard practice. A new toggle lets you pick your challenge: Hard mode quizzes you only on the trickier transparent variants, plus the occasional rare mutation.
  • Transparent birds pay more. Spotting the transparent female and juvenile variants now out-rewards their normal versions.

Every round ends with a reward

  • A reward chest after every round. Finish a round and a little chest lands in the corner. Tap to open it: the lid bursts, and your reward rolls up and folds into your balance. The colour only reveals how good the pull is as the chest opens: a warm glint for feathers, blue and red for pages, and a purple JACKPOT for the top pull. There's no daily limit, so the more you play the more chests you get, and subscribers pull the rare pages far more often.
  • Daily quests. Three fresh quests every day, clearable in a round or two. Each shows its rarity and pays to match, and you open a chest to claim the reward. If a quest doesn't suit you, reroll it for 5 feathers.
  • Daily double-up. Bank a few pages in your piggy bank today, play just one round tomorrow, and they come back doubled. Miss a day and your pages are returned untouched: you can never lose, you only skip the bonus on days you don't show up. Members can bank more.

The Feather Shop got a glow-up

  • Melting spare cards into feathers is now a proper celebration, with select-all and a counting-up total. Tap any card to inspect it, buying a card plays a reveal, and the whole shop springs, staggers and shakes when you are broke.

More improvements

  • Freshly spotted birds in your Birdex now wear a glowing ring until you have seen them, with a little counter celebration.
  • Gifting a subscription now hands the friend 20 pages, and the hub has a new (+) shortcut on your page counter.
  • The level curve is steeper now, so higher levels take longer and a high level means more.
  • The field-trip country picker now changes which birds you can find, not just which ones you are quizzed on.
  • The emblem celebration waits for you: the medal and the XP you gained stay on screen until you tap.
  • On the home screen, cards melt softly into the sky as you scroll them up toward your greeting.

Fixes

  • Fixed a crash that could happen when opening the League tab.
  • Round-summary confetti no longer follows you back to the hub.
  • Updated card art and thumbnails now refresh correctly on your device instead of showing the old picture.

Nye funktioner

  • Brug sider i bundter.
  • Køb sider i Fjerbutikken.
  • Spoiler-tilstand for samlere.
  • Pral med dine World Firsts.

Pages in bundles, the Hard collection and a Lifer List that pays

Build 45 is the collector's update. Spend your pages 3 or 10 at a time, buy new ones with feathers, chase the new Hard collection in your Birdex, and the Lifer List now pays feathers for every milestone you cross.

New features

  • Spend pages in bundles. Pick ×3 or ×10 next to PLAY and one round finds all those birds: revealed one after another with the full spotting-scope search for every single bird and a "Bird 2 of 10" counter along the way. Rounds are also always a clean 10-guess game now, with the reveals coming after the final card.
  • Buy pages in the Feather Shop. Melt your spare cards and turn feathers into pages, 5 feathers each, up to 10 a day. And if you run dry, a new "Get pages" button lists every route to more: play rounds, the shop, invite friends, world firsts, and gifting a subscription now thanks you with 20 pages.
  • Birdex collections. Two chips switch your whole Birdex between the Base collection and the Hard collection (the transparent cards with no background, much harder to guess), with a live counter showing exactly how far you are, like 12/40 in Forest, following whatever filters you have on.
  • Collector spoiler mode. A new eye toggle in your Birdex reveals every bird you haven't spotted yet as a greyed-out ghost card with its name. Off by default, so the mystery stays.
  • The Lifer List now pays. Every milestone on the ladder (10, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 300 species) drops feathers the moment you spot the bird that crosses it: 10 feathers at your first 10 species, growing to 80. Tap the counter in your Birdex to unfold the whole ladder.
  • Flex your World Firsts. World-first cards now carry a golden badge in your Birdex (a crown for the very first discoverer, a star for top-30), and one tap shares the framed discovery image any time you like.
  • Credit to the finder. The Sightings popup on the hub now shows who spotted the rare bird first, name in gold.
  • 5 new countries. You can now pick Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland and Portugal as your country.

Improvements and fixes

  • The Daily Bird's ×2 XP is finally visible: every correct answer pops doubled XP in the round, and the summary flags the total with a ×2 tag.
  • Earning an emblem is a clean moment now: the green confetti no longer blocks the medal stamp, and the medal counters on profiles are repaired for everyone (one player was showing minus 140 medals!).
  • Squashed a hard crash that could kill the app right as you came back to the hub after a round.
  • Your Birdex scrolls silky smooth: images load ahead of your thumb, fast flings no longer stutter, and every card image now downloads 9 times faster.
  • The home screen got smarter in the evening: from 18:00 an unsaved streak jumps to the top so nobody loses a 40-day flame. And when a habitat is nearly complete, a new card drops you straight into a field trip there.
  • The subscription offer nags less: it shows up more rarely and never in kids mode.

  • Fair play i ligaen.
  • Nat i appen.

Monthly Top 50, starry nights and invite a friend

Build 43 is about competing and playing together. The Top 50 board became a monthly race with feather prizes, you can invite friends into the beta with your own code, and the app finally got a real night.

New features

  • Monthly Top 50. The Top 50 board is now a monthly race: all XP you earn during the calendar month counts, and everyone starts fresh on the 1st. When the month closes, the whole board wins feathers. 100 for #1, 50 for #2, 30 for #3 and gradually less down the list. You need at least 15,000 XP in the month for the prize to pay out.
  • Fair play in the league. The Weekly League now only pays feathers if you earned at least 3,000 XP that week. Ranks and titles work as before.
  • Invite a friend. You now have your own invite code. A friend who joins with your code starts with 10 bonus pages, and when they keep a 3 day streak you bank 30 yourself. Up to 10 friends, and you automatically become friends in the game.
  • Night in the app. The app now lives the full day: a rosy sunrise from 6, bright daylight, a golden sunset from 17, and a real starry sky with a moon from 20 to 6. Playing past midnight finally looks like midnight.
  • Level and titles on profiles. Public profiles now show the player's level in the familiar golden ring, and chosen titles display correctly for everyone.

Improvements and fixes

  • New-bird reveals look and feel far better: the spotting scope lingers longer at each stop the rarer the bird, rare birds slide into focus while they zoom toward you, and the light rays behind the card no longer stutter.
  • You can now hold your finger on the bird card without fast-forwarding the countdown, and when you do fast-forward, every second gives a small tick in your hand.
  • The COMBO text stays on screen longer, the Next card button is a second snappier, and the green confetti clears quickly so you see your card right away.
  • The page icon in the hub became a little piece of game art: parchment, a folded corner and a quill.
  • The Birdex card page was decluttered, so your accuracy details sit behind the arrow and only show on demand.
  • The EX cards' shimmering foil is back after a rendering bug, and the Daily Bird now flies you straight to its habitat.

Nye funktioner

  • Prøv gratis i 7 dage.
  • Mere liv i Practice mode.

The big medal update

This one is big. We built a brand new medal system, a new Weekly League and a bird of the day, and cleaned up a batch of bugs along the way. Here is everything new in beta build 41.

New features

  • New medal system. Every card now tracks how accurately you know the bird. Answer correctly again and again to earn Bronze, Silver and Gold, and finally Diamond for 50 flawless answers. Once earned, a medal is yours forever.
  • Rusty cards. Birds you have not seen in a while gather rust. Spot them correctly to shake it off.
  • Combo and player level. Correct answers in a row build your combo and boost your XP. All your XP now feeds one player level, visible on your profile.
  • Weekly League. Everyone now competes on one global board. Every Monday the race resets and all players start from zero. Finish high on Sunday night to win feathers, and the top finishers earn a title for 28 days.
  • Titles. Earn titles through World Firsts and the league, and choose which one to show on your profile.
  • Bird of the Day. Every player hunts the same bird each day. Spot it and get 10 minutes of double XP.
  • Rare Bird Alert. When a rare bird is spotted somewhere in the world, you see it live at the top of your screen. Now and then a time-limited bird appears with a heavily boosted chance.
  • Streak rewards. Your streak now pays out feathers at set milestones, with extra big rewards at day 10, 20 and 30. Miss a day and you can rescue your streak for 5 feathers.
  • Your starting identity. New players get an avatar and an exclusive Early Bird border from day one, and public profiles now show your title, stats and World Firsts.
  • Try free for 7 days. You can now try every perk free for a week, cancel anytime.
  • Better bug reports. Report a bug and you can now follow the case and reply to us directly under Settings, My tickets.
  • Your impact. See how much nature you have helped protect, measured in everything from garden ponds to football pitches.
  • More life in Practice mode. The spotting scope reveal now scales with the bird's rarity, and a footprint trail shows your progress through the round.

  • Fixed a bug where sound effects could fail silently on some Android devices.
  • Security has been tightened in several places, including account deletion now fully removing all your data.
  • Fixed rendering glitches on foil card frames and metal effects.
