What is BIRDEY?
BIRDEY is a bird ID game. You study a bird for five seconds, then identify it from memory, and the game brings back the species you confuse until you just know them.
Grow your bird collection through play, not pay. Card rarity is not invented: it follows the species' real conservation status on the IUCN Red List.
Part of the revenue protects real habitat: every subscription protects 10 square meters of threatened nature through World Land Trust's "Buy an Acre" program, and players watch their own protected square meters grow on their profile.

Story angles
You get better at real birding. The game is spaced repetition in disguise. It tracks which species you mix up, like Pied versus Collared Flycatcher, and shows you exactly the field marks you missed.
Rarity that means something. In most collector games rarity is a marketing dial. In BIRDEY a Critically Endangered bird is a top rarity card because it is critically endangered. Spotting one teaches you what CR actually means.
Playing protects habitat. Subscriptions fund real square meters of protected nature through World Land Trust. The impact is concrete and permanent on your profile.
World firsts. The first player in the world to spot a species gets their name printed on that card, for every player, forever.

About the developer
BIRDEY is made by Anders, a birder and solo developer in Denmark. He knows the feeling of seeing a bird in the field, getting home to the field guide, and no longer remembering the one detail that decides the species. BIRDEY exists to end that cycle.
He is happy to talk about any of it: the game, the conservation model, or what it takes to ship a full game solo. Write to support@birdsodyssey.com.
